Obituary for William S. Galloway
William S. ‘Bubbles’ Galloway, of Ashland and Montserrat, passed away on January 8, 2025. He was 69 years old.
He was the beloved husband for over 35 years to Annesta Galloway. He was a loving father to Sandrene Ryan, Walter Labranche and his wife Marlene, Nafeesa Galloway, Nisreen Galloway and her fiancè Joshua Major-Paschal. Brother of Joycelyn Edwards, Cathrin Galloway, Diane Daniels, Josephine Hoey, Joseph Galloway, Clement Galloway, Molly Campbell-James, Rosalyn Morgan-Amadee, Victoria Joseph, Richard Morgan, Thelma Miller and deceased siblings William (Hugh) Locker and Nellie Daniels. Cherished grandfather of Amaiyah, Jeremiah, Messiah, Mila and Micah. William is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
William was born in Plymouth, Montserrat, British West Indies. In his earlier years he was known on the island as “Postman Willy” delivering mail on his motorcycle. He also performed, wrote, did set design, and toured on many plays with the Montserrat Theatre Group throughout the Caribbean. He carried various jobs until he moved to the United States. He and his wife raised their family in the MetroWest area. He held a lengthy career in HVAC at John Hancock, Shire Pharmaceutical Group, and Boston University; from where he subsequently retired.
He was a master at handiwork and could build or fix anything, making it unique in his own way. In his own words, he always appreciated when things were “different”. He was a published author of poetry and a playwright and producer. William was passionate about celebrating Montserrat and his culture. He especially loved the Caribbean carnival and attended and participated in many all over the world. He enjoyed travel and spent most of his life exploring the world and making memories with family and friends. Above all, William’s family was the most important aspect of his life. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.
Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend the viewing on Saturday February 1st 10-11 AM in Faith Christian Church, 301 Harvard Street, Dorchester. Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM.
Burial at a later date in Montserrat.
