Obituary for William Morris Lyle

William “Morris” Lyle, died October 5, 2025 in Boston. He was born in New Broughton, Manchester, Jamaica, to his beloved parents, Rachael and Cecil Lyle. He grew up in New Broughton surrounded by many siblings, where his early years helped shape the hardworking, caring, and family-oriented man he would become.

He attended New Broughton Primary School and later New Broughton High School. After completing his education, he pursued trade school to study masonry. He continued his training alongside his cousin, Robert Lyle, who was a professor at the masonry school. Morris developed a deep love for his trade and took great pride in his work. In addition to masonry, he pursued his passion for agriculture, becoming a skilled husbandman with knowledge and expertise in cultivating gardens and caring for animals.

Morris’s journey took a beautiful turn when he met his beloved girlfriend, Beryl. The two fell deeply in love, and their relationship blossomed into a lifelong marriage. With dreams of building a future together and starting a family, Morris decided it was time for a new chapter in his life. He migrated to England, where he reunited with his siblings and a host of other family members.

While living in England, Morris worked as a mason for many years, continuing to demonstrate his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic. It was there that he and Beryl began building their family, welcoming the two children who would become the pride and joy of his life: his beloved daughter, Lovely Laura Lorraine, and his son, Nigel Lyle. He was so happy to have a king and queen and then adopted a host of biological family members who resided with us, and friends' children, that then became his own family soon enough. A testimony of the family that we are.

After many wonderful years in England, Morris decided to move closer to family in the United States and eventually settled in the Boston area. Never one to stop learning or growing, he returned to school to study rehabilitation therapy. He went on to work as a rehabilitation therapist in a nursing facility for many years, where he continued to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Throughout his life, Morris demonstrated a remarkable willingness to help and care for people. Whether through his work, a kind gesture, or simply lending a helping hand, he gave generously
and wholeheartedly. He was known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and genuine concern for
others. He had a special gift for making people feel welcome, and it was not unusual for him to
turn a brief encounter into a lifelong friendship.

After retiring, Morris happily settled into life at home with his beloved daughter, Laura, who
remained the apple of his eye. Together with Beryl, they were blessed with the opportunity to
build a beautiful family home in Jamaica. The home was a shared labor of love created by Beryl
and Morris, and it became much more than a house. It was a sanctuary of love, laughter,
togetherness, and treasured memories.

Morris’s daughter and grandchildren were everything to him. They were the center of his heart,
his greatest joy, and the people who brought him the deepest sense of purpose and happiness.
He cherished every moment spent with Laura and his grandchildren, taking great pride in their
lives, their accomplishments, and the loving family they shared.

Morris and his family frequently traveled to Jamaica, often staying for several months at a time.
Their home was always open to family and friends, with no expiration date on the welcome they
received. There was always room for one more person, one more conversation, and one more
memory to be made. The home was thoughtfully built with enough space for everyone,
reflecting Beryl and Morris’s deep love for their family and their desire to bring people together.

His grandchildren hold countless fond memories of the wonderful times spent at the family
home in Jamaica. Those visits and family vacations were filled with laughter, meaningful
conversations, exploration, and the simple joy of being together. Morris took great pride in
creating opportunities for his loved ones to reconnect, strengthen family bonds, and enjoy life.
His grandchildren were especially precious to him, and he treasured the special relationship he
shared with each of them.

A firm believer in working hard but playing even harder, Morris made it a priority to enjoy life with
the people he loved. Family vacations were especially important to him, and he cherished every
opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with his daughter and
grandchildren. Although he embraced new experiences, he never forgot his British roots or the
strong Jamaican foundation that shaped his life. He carried both cultures proudly, passing down
a rich legacy of hard work, resilience, family values, and appreciation for life’s blessings.

Morris’s devotion to his family was evident in the love and care shown to his beloved wife, Beryl.
During her later years, Beryl remained at home, where she was lovingly cared for by her
daughter, Laura, her son-in-law, Terence, and her grandchildren, Sean, Shianne, Shamar,
Sierra-Rose, and Seleste, until her passing.

The loss of Beryl was deeply felt by Morris, as he had lost not only his wife but also his best
friend and lifelong companion. Their love and partnership had been an important part of his life’s
journey. Although her passing left an immeasurable void, Morris continued to reside happily in
their Boston home, surrounded by his loving daughter, grandchildren, and son-in-law, who cared
for him deeply and remained devoted to him until his passing.

William “Morris” Lyle lived a life defined by hard work, love, generosity, and devotion to family.
From his beginnings in Jamaica to his years in England and, ultimately, his life in Boston, he
built more than a career and a home. He built relationships, strengthened family bonds, touched
countless lives, and created a legacy that will continue through the generations.

He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, cherished family member, and
loyal friend. His welcoming spirit, infectious smile, love of conversation, and willingness to help
others will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Above all, he was a
devoted father and grandfather whose daughter and grandchildren meant everything to him.
Morris’s life was a testament to the importance of working hard, loving deeply, giving
freely, and making time for the people who matter most. His legacy lives on in the family he
cherished, the friendships he nurtured, the lives he touched, and the beautiful memories that will
forever be treasured.

Though he is no longer physically with us, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the
memories he created will never fade. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and
forever honored. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU.
