Obituary for Walter Martin

Walter “Vann” Martin, 60, of Boston, MA, passed away on April 14, 2024.

Vann is predeceased by mother, Joline Martin, father Joe McNeil, and grandmother, Suzanne Fountaine who went home April 14, 2020 and will be his guiding light to their final resting home. He leaves a lifetime of precious memories to be cherished by: five children, Rashaad Martin, Xavier Pixley, Shylia Martin, Kwante Johnson, and Jabari Martin; two grandchildren, Arabiyaan Martin Lymberopoulos and Kaiden Martin; two brothers, Lawrence Martin of Atlanta, GA and Terrance Martin of Pittsburg, PA; four sisters, Taucha Martin, Ericka Martin, Valerie Fields, and Beverly Brewington, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by brother Demetriuse Martin.

Vann attended Madison High School; he later obtained his GED. Beyond formal education, Vann's true schooling came from the streets of Blue Hill Ave. and the diverse neighborhoods of Boston, where he learned invaluable lessons in resilience and adaptability. He became certified in truck driving, roofing, construction, and painting. Vann worked for John Henry Roofing for many years and later used the experience to work independently and as an inspector for the Boston Housing Authority.

Whether sharing his love for fried lobster or embarking on adventures with those closest to him, Vann always brought laughter and entertainment to family events. Always impeccably dressed and sporting his signature (bucket) hat, his presence will truly be missed. Rest in peace, dear Vann. Your legacy will live on in the lives you touched and the memories you leave behind.

I am in shock because Van Val and myself were just hanging out at a mutual friends birthday party a couple weekends ago at Cathay Pacific and then we ended up going to the Carver Den and we had such a good time he seemed fine. He was in good spirits. We danced we had some drinks laughed and talked .Vann was always the life of the party always joking and smiling just full of fun .He had a great big heart always making sure that everybody had drinks food and he was always making sure that the people around him was good. He was just a sweetheart a standup type of guy and he will truly be missed gone too soon. Rest in peace, brother sending prayers of love, comfort and strength to his entire family. I just wanted to say one more thing I loved the way he loved Valerie. He adored his sister and she adored him us expression, but they were each others road dog and I mean that with the upmost respect, they were two peas in a pod, sending some extra love out To Val because she sure had his back as well I'm sorry I missed those Sunday morning. Brunches with Val and Van. Val would have a spread and she'd call and say yup Vann is on his way he wanted this hat and other and she would make sure that she made it and yes, they both had a love for lobster. They were truly each other's keeper.🩷🩷🩷🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 yes, for everything there is a season🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
