Obituary for Walter Mae (Lee) Jefferson

Our Beloved mother Walter Mae (Lee) Jefferson -nick name “Red”, age 72 of Stoughton formerly of Mattapan, passed away peacefully, on Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Mae was born in Bellamy Alabama on July 30, 1951, to Walter and Fanny Lee. She also was raised with her 7 sisters and 2 brother. She was a cheerleader in high school, and she worked in her aunt’s hair salon.

After high school she went on to marry Needham Jefferson III and relocated to Boston Ma in 1968 and together they had 3 daughters. Mae was a hard-working woman; she wore many hats. She held down a fulltime job/9-5 as a Nutrients, wife, mother of 3, friend, sister, aunt.

After 14 years of marriage, she was divorced, and Mae went on to be a single mom working very hard to take care of here girls. Mae was very kind, generous to those who was around her. She loved to entertain family and friends during the holiday seasons. She loved fashion, interior decoration, cooking, sewing, traveling and Steve Harvey was her favorite show. She was very independent, strong outgoing determined in many ways and she had a great sense of humor.

She had a deep love for her grandchildren and she was loved by her children, grandchildren great- grands, family and friends and she will be missed dearly.

She was preceded by her father Walter Lee, her mother Fanny Lee (Noble) and siblings Pearlie Mae Lee (Barbara), and Bra Lee, Beatrice Lee (Bea).

Mae is survived by her daughters: Wendy Verna Jefferson of North Carolina, Cindy Verna Jefferson Stoughton, MA and Lashonda Verna Jefferson of Milton, MA

Grandchildren: Kevin J Jefferson- Lockhart, wife Lateffa Jefferson-Lockhart, Chrishonda S. Jefferson and Rayla V Willis

Great- grandchildren: Kevin J Jefferson- Lockhart Jr. and Kayvia Jefferson-Lockhart

Siblings: Della Lee (Doll), Gloria Lee (Glo), Robert Lee, Wonda Lee (Louise), Azelia Lee (Verdell), Zonolia Lee (Sandy) and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and family.

For their support, dedicated work and compassion in caring for our mother in her latter days. We would like to especially thank, Adna her hospice nurse, Felicia her home health aide, Paster Kevin, Erin Meany her hospice social worker and team.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the team at the Old Colony Elder Services in Stoughton, MA.

A Special thank you to Dolan Funeral Home and Pastor Joshua Fulton of Jubilee Christian Church

Memorial service will be held, Wednesday, July 10th at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER-LOWER MILLS at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be omitted. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visitation will be held, Wednesday, July 10th at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER – LOWER MILLS from 10:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Walter Mae see Cindy Jefferson, daughter of Walter Mae Jefferson.
