Obituary for Walter Bailey
Walter Julien Bailey, Sr. was born on May 19, 1931, to the late Mattie Mason in Virginia. From humble beginnings, Walter grew into a man of strength, integrity, and quiet grace. He proudly served his country in the United States military and later retired after years of dedicated service.
He met the love of his life, Rose, in 1948 and knew from that moment that she was the one. Two years later, they were married and went on to share 62 beautiful years together — a lifetime filled with laughter, devotion, and unwavering love. Their marriage was a true partnership and an inspiring example of commitment and faith. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, kindness, and joy, raising two beloved children, Carol Ann and Walter Jr.
Walter and Rose’s love for their family was the center of their world. They cherished every moment spent with their grandchildren and great-granddaughter, showering them with affection and creating countless cherished memories. Their home was always open — a place filled with warmth, the smell of home-cooked meals, and the sounds of family gatherings, especially during cookouts and holidays.
Walter found peace and joy in life’s simple pleasures — tending to his garden, watching sports, and sharing stories of the past. His gentle spirit, loving heart, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his brother Carol Bailey Sr. his great granddaughter Nyasia Foxworth of Brockton MA, beloved wife, Rose Bailey, his devoted son, Walter Bailey Jr. of Boston, MA, and his loving daughter, Carol Ann Richardson of Boston, MA.
Walter leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his grandchildren, Shemika and Willie Foxworth of Brockton, MA; Shara Lowe of Boston, MA; and Monique Bailey of Holbrook, MA; his cherished great-granddaughter, Nina Bonnett of Holbrook, MA; and his goddaughter, Laura Neves of Boston, MA, as well as his son in law Ronald Richardson and daughter in law Stephanie Bailey.
His life was a testament to love, family, and faith — and though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
