Obituary for Tania Scarlett
Tania Marie Scarlett, a beloved sister, friend, educator, and servant of faith was born in London, England, on May 12th, 1968. Tania’s journey of life took her from her birthplace to Jamaica, where she spent her early years until the age of 12. At that age, she migrated to the United States, where she continued to grow, learn, and serve.
Tania attended Boston Latin Academy and went on to earn her undergraduate degree in languages from Northeastern University. She further pursued her passion for education by obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching at Simmons University. Her dedication to teaching spanned over 25 years in Boston Public Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students with her warmth, kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment.
A woman of many talents and passions, Tania loved music and dancing, and she had a special fondness for languages—French, Haitian Creole, and Spanish among them. She enjoyed traveling and experiencing new cultures. Tania also loved shopping and had a unique sense of style.
Her generous spirit, kindness, and supportive nature made her a cherished sister, friend and family member. She was known for her beautiful laughter, contagious smile, giggles, and her ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. She had a reassuring soft spoken voice that will be greatly missed. Tania demonstrated her compassion through acts of service, faithfully giving of her time and resources to others and actively participating in her church community.
Tania fought courageously for her convictions, embodying a spirit of perseverance and faith. She was a remarkable sister to Lisa and a steadfast friend to many. Her faith sustained her through life’s challenges, and she believed in the promise of eternal life, finishing her race with grace and courage, as 2 Timothy 4:7 reminds us: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
On August 9th, 2026, Tania went home to be with the Lord.
She leaves to mourn her passing her heartbroken twin sister, Lisa; her beloved godchildren, Evan, Radley, Isaiah, and Laila; her cousins Claire and Donald; her godsister Arlene; her godbrother Paul; and a host of friends and loved ones. She was predeceased by her loving mother, Nessa Scarlett.
