Obituary for Sinclair W. Tracey

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Sinclair Tracey, who departed this life on July 7, 2025. He was born on March 22, 1964, in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica, to Vinette Tracey and the late Samuel Tracey.

In 1968, when his parents migrated to the United States, young Sinclair remained in Jamaica and was lovingly raised in Beecher Town, St. Ann, by his devoted grandparents, the late Florence Johnson and Ronald Johnson, and his late uncle Neville Johnson. His mischievous and joyful spirit filled their home with life and laughter.

In 1975, Sinclair joined his family in Dorchester, Massachusetts, where he lived with his older siblings Gloy George, Garfield Cover, and Jacqueline Nolan. He attended Washington Irving Middle School in Roslindale and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester.

Sinclair dedicated over 20 years to Boston University as a valued member of the maintenance department, forming deep friendships and a strong work ethic that his colleagues never forgot. After leaving BU, he found new purpose serving at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and later at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he worked until his passing. Deeply moved by the patients he encountered—especially the children he was unable to comfort—Sinclair’s heart remained open and empathetic to the suffering of others. Known affectionately as "the mayor" at his job, his impact was evidenced by their heartfelt response after his passing.

Sinclair was a man of warmth, charm, and endless compassion. He had a magnetic personality, and people were naturally drawn to his kindness and light. He loved NASCAR, fishing, learning about the universe, and watching true crime shows and movies. He found joy in driving to new places, always eager to explore and experience new adventures.

A devoted bird lover, Sinclair kept cages of various birds at home over the years, finding peace in their presence. He also took immense pride in his cars, which were always clean and polished—often adorned with colors and designs celebrating his heritage. Sinclair was incredibly proud to be Jamaican, and it showed in everything from his wardrobe to his conversations.

Sinclair was predeceased by his beloved father, Samuel Tracey, and his cherished son, Derek Crowder, whom he now joins in eternal peace.

He leaves behind his devoted mother, Vinette Tracey; siblings Gloy George, Garfield Cover, and Jacqueline Nolan; granddaughter Nevaeh Crowder; grandson Dsahan Crowder; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved and admired him.

Sinclair’s legacy is one of love, resilience, humor, and pride. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Sinclair will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace cousin. Your memory will remain in my mind forever not only for the warmth of your cheerful greetings and genuine kindness, but also for the uniquely expressive style of your own, and a spirit that was infectious and unforgettable. These qualities, are all gifts you shared so freely and left behind as treasures and will remain with me long after your untimely death. To Mrs. Vignette and entire family: My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. May you all find strength and comfort from the good Lord, and each other as you grieve through the passing of Sinclair.. With deepest sympathy, Veronica ( "V") Mignott

In Loving Memory Recently, while reminiscing with my mom, Sinclair came to my mind. I even said to her, "I wonder how he was doing." Just a week later, I learned of his passing. Though many years have gone by, the memory of his mischievous and loving heart remains close to me. In this time of loss, I pray God's peace and comfort for his family and friends, holding onto His promise: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." —Psalm 34:18 (NIV) May Sinclair rest in peace, and may those who love him find strength in God's unfailing love. May the peace of God sustain us all in this time of sorrow.

Sinky, we have known each other for over 50+ years, you were so much a part of me. School mates, friend and brother. I will forever cherish the precious memories I have of you. There are so many to reflect on; your passing has left a huge void. It was your greatest desire to purchase an RV when you retired so you could traverse the country to enjoy nature and explore different places. Your car had to be clean, and you were always immaculately dressed. I always told you that you have an OCD mentality when it comes on to your car. I'll miss our chats, your haughty laugh and your craziness. I can't believe that you are gone but I'll take comfort that God gave you to us for so many years. May your soul rest in peace my dear friend and light perpetual shine upon you.
