Obituary for Ruby Jean Dudley

Ruby Jean Dudley of Braintree passed away on Sunday February 23rd 2025 at the age of 83 years old.

She was an beloved wife to her late husband John E Dudley Sr. A loving mother of John Edward Dudley Jr and Symphony D Hall. She cherished having her beautiful grandchildren and loved being the second oldest to her 5 brothers and 4 sisters and adored all her nieces and nephews.

Ruby was born on March 19, 1941 to Mrs. Essie Mae Boswell and Mr. B.W Ball. She was raised by her grandparents in Montgomery Alabama where she attended first and secondary schools and was apart of a Baptist Church. She started working as a adolescent cleaning houses. She became a young wife and mother to her son who was always by her side. She realized the south wasn’t for her and she wanted better opportunities for her family. She relocated to Boston, Ma to follow her sister so her family can start a new lifestyle.

Ruby Jean was referred as a Guardian by family and friends. She knew exactly who she was and what she wanted to become growing up. She was determined to be a caregiver because she enjoyed taking care of her family and wanted to pursue nursing. Whatever she wanted she had the support because she wasn't a typical stay at home wife and mother. She worked for the commonwealth of Massachusetts until she become injured and focused on being a foster mom.

Ruby was spontaneous whenever she had free time she was always on the road heading to the casino or traveling back home to visit her family. She loved the essence of having plants and flowers around her home and was good at making them thrive. She enjoyed listening to her old school and new school music. Her favorite genre was the blues, rnb and hip hop, although one of her favorite artists was the late Tupac Shakur. She also enjoyed watching her westerns and cooking while having her favorite drink, a cold Pepsi.

Ruby was loved by many and wasn’t alone, but she always asked for her family and friends and wondered why they all left her, but now she is back with her husband, mother, father and siblings at the family reunion.

Ruby is also survived by her Grandchildren; Akira, Shaquera and Tyla.

Great grandchildren; Aria, Aubrey, Xavier, Akari, Isaac, Dameon, Zamariah, Ruby and Sasha. Sisters; Joyce and Dorothy Jackson, Brother; Robert Jackson, Cousins; Janice Boswell and Patricia Vickers (Kenneth)

Ruby is also survived by an abundance of nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces,

Nephews, great nephews, great-great nephews and other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ruby Dudley was preceded in death by her husband John E. Dudley Sr, Sisters Mary Hall, Essie Martin and Brothers Tom Hall, Larry Jackson, Edward Jackson and James Jackson Aunt and Uncle Cleveland and Ardis Boswell, Niece Shirley Ann Hall, Nephews Tom Hall Jr. and Bobby Jackson.

Funeral Service Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hour 10 – 11 am. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
