SAINT-LOUIS – Rose Ismael, 95 of Mattapan (formerly of Haiti), passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Rose was the beloved daughter of the late Ismael Saint-Louis and Elise M. Majeure.

Rose was a devoted mother of 7 children: Louicilia B. Theork (wife of Prosper J. Theork) of Mattapan, Nelson Byssainthe of Haiti, Canoville Aris of Haiti, Paulette Louissaint of Mattapan, Massillon Aris of Haiti, Claisilie Byssainthe of Haiti and the late Remulis Mareus.

Rose is survived by her remaining siblings, 22 cherished grandchildren, over 25 adoring great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Haiti (Ile de la Tortue), Rose came to this world on January 8, 1929. She devoted the majority of her time to her family and loved ones. Rose moved to the U.S. (Boston, MA) in 2009 to be with her daughter Louicilia B. Theork and some of her grandchildren (Louicilia’s children). During her time in the U.S., Rose was full of love, joy and happiness; like an angel, she touched everyone she came in contact with. She loved music of all types and was often the life of the party; she danced like nobody was watching. After she was bound at home, her latest hobby was watching Haitian and African movies, and shared many jokes and laughs with family, friends and loved ones.

Although departed in body, her gentle spirit lives on through all who were privileged to be touched by her love, kindness, generosity, friendship, smile and all the great memories she leaves behind. While it’s okay to shed tears and be sad, she would want us to celebrate her blessed, full and long life for years to come.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Friday, July 5th from 11AM - 12PM. Funeral Service to begin at 12 Noon. Interment at Saint Michael Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
