Richard Lowney passed away in the early morning hours of November 15, 2025. He was 80 years old.

Dick, as he insisted on being called by everyone who met him, grew up in Roslindale, lived in Milton for over a decade, and, for the past 40 years, was a resident of Weymouth, Massachusetts. He had a longstanding career as a motorman with the MBTA, before retiring as a collector.

He is survived by his wife, Mary C. (Collins) Lowney, his son, Kevin R. Lowney, his sister, Dorothy (Lowney) O'Neil, three granddaughters Kaitlyn, Devin, and April, and dozens of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both of his parents, Leo Francis and Mary Elizabeth (Donahue) Lowney as well as five of his siblings: Leo Lowney, Marilyn Norden, Raymond Lowney, Elizabeth Lucchese, and Nancy McGuire.
