Obituary for Richard J. Saletta

Richard Joseph Saletta, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away on September 20, 2024.

Born on February 13, 1940 in Boston, Richard was the eldest son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Voto) Saletta and brother Gary (Phyllis) Saletta.

Richard was raised in Milton, and lived in Norwell and Chatham.

Richard leaves behind his loving wife, Adele (Przybyszewski), his four cherished children and spouses, Rick Saletta, Kirsten and Gary Zelhof, Darren and Brooke Saletta, and Brian Saletta.

He will be greatly missed by his six adored grandchildren, Taylor and Mackenzie Zelhof, Luke, Colt, Rylen and Reyna Saletta.

He was a pillar of strength for his family and a source of inspiration to all who knew him. His kindness, wisdom, and humor will forever be remembered.

Richard, affectionately known as “Dick” by friends, will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his generous spirit.

Dick graduated from Milton High School, served in the United States Air Force and attended Boston University as a triumvirate honors student.

He began his law career as a full partner, at the law firm of Roche, Carens & DeGiacomo. A consummate attorney and mentor, he was admired for his integrity, dedication and unwavering work ethic.

Outside of his career, Richard was passionate about college-hockey, especially his BU Terriers, and an avid supporter of the Friends of BU Hockey.

He attended hundreds of games and was proudly present for numerous NCAA championships. The quintessential dad, he carted his four children all over the US and Canada for hockey games and watched two sons play college football, never missing a game and earning a reputation for “the best tailgate” on campus.

Richard will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his legacy of love and generosity lives on in those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was also an avid gardener. Each time we came to visit, his crescent of blue hydrangeas were absolutely fabulous. He shared with me his secret sauce, but my NJ bushes have never compared. His love of family and kindness to friends was always evident. He will be missed. Maryann Jessop
