Obituary for Reverand Paul C. Peterson

Peterson, Reverend Paul C. of Dorchester, died on October 13, 2021.

Beloved husband of Audrey Peterson of Dorchester and the late Diane Peterson. Devoted father of Zoe A. Kelly of Quincy, Kristin M. Olsen and her husband Holger of Hull and Paul M. Peterson and his wife Gina of California. Stepfather of Jennifer Larson and her husband Jon Bultmeyer of Dorchester and Matthew Larson of Bellingham. Brother of the late Marjorie Lacey. Cherished “grampa” of Kjerstin Olsen, Meredith Bultmeyer, Zacharia, Malia and Kendra Peterson and Danielle and Ethan Larson.

Paul was born and raised in New York. In his early years Paul worked for his father’s meat market, making deliveries on his bicycle during WWII. He also worked in his family “Victory Garden”.

Paul was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School in New York city. He attended Concordia College in Bronxville , New York; and graduated from Uppsala College in East Orange New Jersey. Later he graduated from Augustana Lutheran Seminary in Rock Island Illinois. He was ordained in 1957. His first parish was Immanuel Lutheran Church in Irwin, PA. In 1992 he accepted call to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church formerly on Talbot Avenue in Dorchester where he served until his retirement in 1982. Following retirement, he did interim ministries at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood, Framingham Lutheran Church and House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Hingham. He was active with at risk teens at Dorchester Court, YMCA, Bosox Club and Dorchester Yacht Club. Paul also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday October 18th at 10 AM in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 308 West Squantum Street, Quincy. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Masks are required for the Service. In memory of Paul donations may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church or Wollaston Lutheran Church, all in Quincy.
