Obituary for Rev. Dr. Ann T. Searing

Rev. Dr. Ann T. Searing passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025 at the age of 85.

Ann began her life in Brooklyn, NY in April of 1940. From a very young age she had a strong faith and felt a calling to be a nun. At age 18 she entered the Daughters of Wisdom Community and flourished. As a sister she loved the times of silence and meditation. She taught children of all ages for many years. She attended Andover Newton Theological School, working mainly with adults exploring issues of faith and service. This is where she met Jeff Johnson, the man who would become her husband of almost 50 years. After Ann left the convent, she received her Masters in Theology and her Doctorate in Ministry. She continued to be active in the Catholic and Protestant churches, and was called as a co-pastor with Jeff at the Congregational Church in Athol, MA for 14 years. Her work continued when the family moved to Milton MA in 1993 and Ann started the Sacred Circle of Silence where she led retreats and meditation. She has been a spiritual leader and counselor to many. Her career culminated with her ordination as a Roman Catholic Woman Priest in 2015.

Ann is survived by her husband, Jeff Johnson, her daughter Beth (Johnson) Milkovits and son-in-law Marty, her daughter Lynne (Johnson) Pike and son-in-law Bob and their children (her beloved grandchildren) Tyler, Desmond and Helena. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Harriette, her brother John and sister-in-law Cathy.
