Obituary for Reidon Evan Alexander Ford

We celebrate the vibrant and beautiful life of Reidon Evan Alexander Ford, a beloved son, brother, friend, and beacon in his community who transitioned from this world far too soon, yet leaves behind a legacy that will continue to uplift us all. Though he is no longer with us in the physical sense, Reidon’s spirit, laughter, and love will remain with us always.

Born on August 7, 2003, to Reinaldo Ford and Donna Green-Ford, Reidon arrived and instantly lit up the hearts of all who saw him. He embodied a joyful energy and a magnetic personality that made him truly unforgettable. Also known as our Spoiled Son, our Fat Boy Slim, our Chocolate Drop, our Pimping Grandson, our Boy, and our beloved Ray—Reidon will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him most.

No matter how much he grew, Reidon always found comfort in the simple joy of being close to his parents whether it was watching a movie, sharing a laugh, or just enjoying each other’s presence. He treasured those moments of togetherness. One of his most heartfelt traditions was wrapping his parents in a big, radiant group hug, a loving gesture he used to say hello, see you later, or simply, “I love you.” It was his beautiful way of keeping their bond strong.

To his sister Reionna, he was more than a brother, he was her heart, her partner-in-crime, forever best friend. Just three years apart, the two were soul connected “roots of the same tree,” growing together in strength, spirit, and love.

Reidon was deeply compassionate and spiritually grounded, always guided by his trust in God and his desire to make others feel seen, heard, and happy. He lived with an open heart, treating everyone he met with kindness, warmth, and respect. Whether through a shared laugh, thoughtful advice, or a simple smile, Reidon had a remarkable way of making others feel at ease.

A true social butterfly, he was often the spark that lit up the room the one people gravitated toward for his humor, empathy, and calm wisdom. His laugh was infectious, his smile unforgettable, and his presence full of life and light.

Reidon graduated from Bedford High School in 2022 as a proud METCO, Inc. alumnus. Following in his father’s footsteps, he enrolled at Salem State University, his father’s alma mater. Where he was in his junior year majoring in Business Administration.

Sports were another essential part of who Reidon was. He was an athlete through and through from swimming for the Yawkey Club of Roxbury and Team New England in Woburn, and playing Pop Warner football with the Dorchester Eagles. He competed in varsity football, basketball, and lacrosse at Bedford High, but it was on the basketball court that Reidon found his sanctuary. For him, basketball was more than a game; it was his outlet, his therapy, his peace.

Off the court, Reidon shined just as brightly. He was a youth leader, mentor, and role model who poured his heart into helping others, especially the younger generation. He believed in lifting people up and left a mark on every life he touched through his quiet strength, authenticity, and generosity of spirit.

Despite life’s challenges, Reidon moved forward with courage and resilience. He met each day with grace and unwavering hope. His final act of selflessness—becoming an organ donor—was a continuation of the love and compassion that defined his life. Even in passing, he gave the gift of life to others, a powerful reflection of who he was at his core.

Reidon was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles. His beloved grandmothers, Velma and Melviena and his dear Aunt Pam. He leaves behind his devoted parents, Reinaldo and Donna; his cherished sister, Reionna; a wide circle of extended family; countless friends and teammates; and the many young lives he guided and inspired.

Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing that Reidon’s light has not dimmed. It lives on in every laugh he sparked, every life he lifted, and every memory we hold dear. His spirit is with us still, walking beside us in love and light, now and always.

Dearest Reinaldo, Donna and Reionna, I just want to share an imprint that was left with me. As I had both Reionna and Reidon in my kindergarten Sunday school classes for 2-3 yrs. We were in the Pentecost season and we were talking about the tower of Babylon. I was explaining how the rambling was due to the incapablity of understanding each other with the different tongues of dialect and languages. I informed them that we all of mixed cultures; I being of a mix ofBarbadian and southern black African. Reidon excellently informed me that he was a Honduran and Barbadian guys that could speak many languages!!! His enthusiasm for knowledge, sharing and coming to each class with gusto was so impressive for such a young guy. He helped Reionna be more expressive during class. My last impressive memory of Reidon was of him assisting to help serve the seniors during coffee hour and at Rev. Harry's retirement celebration. His hugs were so memorable and meaningful. He will always and forever be in my heart and memories. Stay fluttering around us for warm smiles and happy thoughts. Love you always. You guys have the blessings if your memories. I'll continue to keep you all in prayer.

I first met Reidon in his sophomore English class at BHS. It was immediately clear that he had more depth and intellect than most of his peers. I continued to work with and follow him through his high school years. He always remained kind, insightful and an inspiring human being. And on a shallow note, he had the best sense of style ever! On game days, he would turn up in a suit second none. The world needs more Rays. Love to his family and all that mourn his loss.

I pray that you and the family find comfort in all the memories created with Reidon. Based on the kind words I am seeing, as well as my last interaction with him at Nick's graduation dinner, I can absolutely tell your handsome son had a big heart, a personality larger than life, and was loved by all who knew him. My heart is heavy. Lauressa Johnson (Reese)

I met Ray before his freshman year of high school. Even though he didn't attend school with most of the students in his class since kindergarten, he made a huge impact. He will never be forgotten.

I was one of Reidon's 8th grade teachers at Roxbury Prep. During the year I knew Reidon, I witnessed incredible growth in him. He became very motivated and interested in school work. He was a model student in class. He treated other students with kindness. In Reidon I saw a mind that was very bright, and a good heart too. I would have been proud to call him my son. My condolences to his family during this terrible time. -Bianca Chavez
