Pho Thi Ngo, 92, of Boston, MA surrounded by her family, succumbed peacefully to a long-term illness on Sunday, December 19, 2021, one day following her 92nd birthday. She is survived by four generations of family including her seven children: Hoa, Long, Minh, Hang, Phuc, My and Le. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. Her husband of 69 years, Andrew Ho, and their daughter, Huong, predeceased her.

In 1979, Andrew emigrated from Vietnam to the United States and Pho joined him in 1984, and soon-after settled in Boston’s South End neighborhood. Until his passing in 2015, Pho and Andrew, resided at the South Cove Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Quincy, MA. She continued to live there under the watchful and loving eyes of her youngest daughter, Le, and her husband, Cliff, who visited daily. Their children, Leah and Clifford, were active participants in caring for “Ba Ngoai.”

Deeply devoted to her family and their care, Pho was oftentimes found cooking large meals with vegetables she had carefully grown from her garden, and teaching her grandchildren to speak Vietnamese. Her life was rich, vibrant, and lived intentionally. Pho was a remarkable woman and will be dearly missed by all who knew, and loved her.

A wake with Buddhist prayer will take place on Monday, December 27th at 9:00 AM at Dolan Funeral Service, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester, MA. A brief interment service where Pho will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Andrew, will take place immediately thereafter at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 920 Adams Street, Dorchester, MA.
