Omario “Mario” Shaw’One McConnico, 49, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025.

Born on January 17, 1976, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Mario (as he was affectionately known) was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.

Mario was known as a true giver—always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. He found peace and happiness in fishing, and his greatest joy in life was his son, Dre, whom he loved and cherished until his final day.

A proud and respected member of the Columbia Road community and throughout Boston, Mario’s kind heart, infectious smile, and loyal spirit touched countless lives. To know him was to know genuine warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Oda Bernice Strand; his son, Dre Taylor; his great-grandparents, Bishop Jack and Lillie Bell McConnico; his cousin, Andrew Keith; Larrisha McConnico; and eight uncles: James Edward Cooper, Robert McConnico, Jack McConnico Jr., Willie McConnico, Jessie McConnico, Larry McConnico, Ricky McConnico, and Donald McConnico.

Mario is survived by his loving mother, Treena A. McConnico; his aunts, Belinda Hendon, Aisha Strand, Tinyata Strand, and Saadia Strand; his uncle, Omar Strand; two great uncles, Frank (Fredda) McConnico and Alfonzo (Mary) McConnico; his sisters, Taeesha (Mozell) Williams and Valerie King; and his brothers, Lamar King and Damien King. He will also be lovingly remembered by his special aunt, Frankie (Prince) Jones; his godmother, Earnestine McConnico; and a great host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mario leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and connection that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Wednesday, September 24th from 10-11AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11AM. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
