Obituary for Nora Catherine (Naughton) Walsh

Nora (Naughton) Walsh of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester, Ireland, and England, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old.

Born on October 27, 1945, in Leitir Mรณir, County Galway, Ireland, Nora was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Gannon) Naughton.

Nora is preceded in death by her beloved companion, Peter Akins; her sisters, Mary Ann Quinn, Peggy Folan, and Bridget McNamara; and her granddaughter, Clara Clements.

She leaves behind her loving children: Thomas Walsh and his wife, Kerry, of Milton; Mark Walsh and his wife, Kerri, of Lynn; and Lori Clements and her husband, Tighe, of Braintree. Her sisters Kay Tanney of Braintree and Tricia Kneeland and her husband Richard of Hanson and her brother-in-law Sonny Folan of Braintree. She was the devoted and proud Nana of Maggie, Thomas ("TJ"), Norah, Maura, Erin, Mark, and Delia, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life. She also leaves Peter's children: Richard Akins, Jr.; Donna Walsh and her late husband, John; James Akins; and Thomas Akins and his wife, Karen. Nora is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

At the age of 12, Nora immigrated to the United States with her family, beginning a life filled with hard work, unwavering devotion to those she loved, and countless lifelong friendships.

She graduated from South Boston High School and began a distinguished career at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, where she worked for over four decades before retiring.

Nora was the heart of her family and the person everyone could always count on. She found happiness spending time at Falmouth Harbor surrounded by family and friends. She also cherished traveling the world with her beloved companion, Peter, creating treasured memories through their many adventures together.

Deeply proud of her Irish heritage, she held close the traditions, faith, and values that shaped her life. Those who knew Nora will remember her for her kindness, her sense of humor, her resilience, and her ability to make others feel cared for.
