Obituary for Nicholas Aaron Jones
Nicholas Aaron Jones was born on June 15, 1937 and entered into rest on August 8, 2026. He was the youngest of 10 children to Eloise W. (Street) Jones and Augustus Jones. He grew up in Roxbury, attending Boston Public Schools. He worked various jobs including his last job at Winchester Guns and Rifles where he was the head machinist, which is where he retired from.
Nicholas, also known as Big Nicky, met and married the love of his life, Jeanette (Louise) Banks, who preceded him in death. They had five children,
Maurice, Sharon, Kimberly, Alisha and Nikki. They also adopted four of their grandkids, Alisha, Terrell, Warren and Rashawn Banks, whom they raised as their own.
Big Nicky was one of a kind. He was a very devoted husband and father. He dedicated his life to being a wonderful and passionate provider, which he continued to do after the passing of his wife, Jeanette. The best way to put it is he was a family man and he stood ten toes down till the end. His favorite sayings to all his kids were, “The more I teach you the dumber I get” and “Repeat after me: Dumb, Dumb, Dumb,” which they all got a kick out of.
Nicky was a huge Jazz fan; he loved to listen and sing Jazz music. He was still stuck on his old cowboy TV shows, which was all he really watched. He was also a great cook and could make a meal out of anything.
Nicky’s legacy of humor, perseverance, and dedication will be carried forward by those whom had the privilege of knowing him. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit enthused with curiosity and resilience. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by loving children, Nikki Jones, Alisha Drake, Alisha and Rashawn Banks; grandson Adoronus Hazelwood, plus eight grandkids, Golden Hazelwood, plus 12 great-grandkids, thirty-six plus nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanette Banks; children, Herman, Sharon, Kimberly, Terrell and Warren; siblings Doris, Evelyn, Gwendolyn, James, Adolph, Karl, Evangeline and Priscilla.
Visitation at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE on Sunday, August 30th from 2-3PM. Funeral Service to begin at 3PM. Interment private.

My heart cannot begin to express my sadness. Uncle Nicky reminded me so much of my father that I could listen to him for hours. Although like my dad I'm sure some of his stories were fabricated, they were told with such passion and love. I will miss the occasional text from him just to say "hey niece" you are forever in my heart. Love Abby

I've only met Uncle Nicky a few times. However, the last time we sat down and talked was very nice and heartfelt. He reminded me of my father, his brother, so much. I could've sat there and talked to him for hours, listening to all the stories when they were growing up... some of the stories seemed a "little stretched"... I guess it's a "Jones" thing... because my father also "colorized the truth" sometimes. I'm sure they are together now having a cold one and having fun!! Y'all have one for me, Elijah
