Obituary for Nancy L. Moran

Nancy Louise (Morse) Moran, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully from Parkinson’s disease on November 6, 2025, just a few weeks shy of her 85th birthday.

Born in Beverly, MA on November 26, 1940, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Troop) Morse. The youngest of five children by a span of 25 years, she had the unique circumstance of being two years younger than one of her nephews. Nancy graduated from Beverly High School in 1958 and the Beverly School of Nursing in 1961, forming friendships there that would last a lifetime.

Nancy began her nursing career at Beverly Hospital and went on to work at Massachusetts General Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital. During her time at a home for unwed mothers, she famously delivered a baby during one of her overnight shifts. She later worked at Medical Associates of Quincy and spent twelve years in Urology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. For more than two decades, Nancy also worked nights in the First Aid Room at Fenway Park, caring for Red Sox fans with her trademark warmth and good humor. Throughout her long career, Nancy’s greatest joy came from caring for her patients. Her gentle touch, kind heart, and bright smile made a lasting impression on everyone she met.

In the summer of 1965, Nancy met the love of her life, John Moran. Together they shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage and raised four children. Nancy inspired her family with her unwavering compassion, tireless work ethic, and love of order and cleanliness. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — days at the beach, crossword puzzles, crafts, playing mahjong, and gathering with friends and family. She loved hosting holidays, spending time with her large extended family, and taking family road trips in the station wagon with John and the kids. Nancy also gave back to her community, serving on the PTO, leading a Girl Scout troop, hosting Boy Scout meetings in her home, and later, joyfully helping to care for her grandchildren.

Nancy was the devoted wife of John J. Moran, Jr., and the loving mother of Todd Moran, Kyle (Lyndsey) Moran, Tara (Mark) Phillips, and Deirdre (James) Blyth. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Florence Cahill, Lois “Jackie” Campbell, Arthur Morse, and William Morse, her niece Beverly Morse, nephews James Morse and Dana Cahill, and her eldest son, Todd. She leaves behind six adored grandchildren — Phoebe, Noah, Peyton, Colby, Anna, and Jessica — as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who brought her endless joy.

As Nancy’s Parkinson’s progressed, her devoted husband, John, lovingly cared for her and honored her wish to remain at home. In time, as her needs grew, he was joined by her dedicated caregiver and close friend, Erci Araujo, and most recently, the compassionate team at Trinity Hospice. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Nancy with such kindness and dignity.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Thursday November 13 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00-11:00a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to The Todd P. Moran Memorial Scholarship Fund at Boston College (here)

To the Moran Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I'll always remember Nancy with fondness. I remember going to the beach with her and Laura Cahill and she would be cleaning the sand. Sending Love!
