Obituary for Mildred Cody

Mildred Cody passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 13, 2025.

Mildred Cody was born on January 25, 1947 in Newark, NJ to Hatti Mae Warner and Arthur Cody. She was raised in New Jersey, where she cultivated deep-rooted values of family, friendship, and service to others. She pursued a career in housekeeping and security, where she was known for her dedication, intelligence, and unwavering work ethic.

As a mother/grandparent, Mildred was the heart and soul of her family, always providing advice, laughs, guidance, support, and an endless supply of love. Her granddaughter and great-granddaughter were the true pride and joy of her life (she’d tell you the same). She instilled in them the values of compassion, perseverance, and kindness, along with a bit of sass and love for jewelry.

Mildred received many honors and rewards throughout her career as both a housekeeper and security guard. She took great pride in giving back to her community. Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds, and she leaves behind a legacy of service and love.

Mildred Cody is survived by her children, Wanda Cody, Carlene Cody, and Codell Cody. Her granddaughter Tiana Cody-Barr and great-granddaughter Keyana Barr, who will carry her memory, laugh, and love in their hearts forever.

Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She may be gone from our sight, but her love, stories and the lessons she imparted will remain with us always. May she rest in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Saturday, September 27th from 10-11AM. Funeral Service to begin at 11AM. Interment at Fairview Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.

    I never met you Mildred, but felt I knew you well through the beautiful and loving words of your daughter Wanda. You appeared to be quite a strong and independent gal and you fought this horrible disease with everything you had. Rest assured that Wanda loved you so much and already is modeling your love and kindness for others. Your strength in this world will be missed.
