Michael, age 62, born in Boston passed away on March 23,2023 after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Robert I. Cushing and Evelyn I. Cushing of Dorchester. He was sibling to Robert Cushing of Dorchester, Marie Cushing of Phoenix, Evelyn Thomas of Pembroke , Paul Cushing of Somerville, Christopher Cushing of Plymouth, and Regina Loschiavo of Marshfield. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and large extended family. Mikey spent most of his life in Dorchester. He attended a day program, Habilitation Assistance Corp., in Braintree from a very young age. Later in life Michael resided in a home managed by TILL, Inc. In both, his day program and his residence, Michael received excellent support and care . He was a bright light and defied the odds and lived a long life. He was the oldest student in his day program who described him as their “shining star.” He had a limited vocabulary but one of his favorite words was “cookie!” He loved milk- shakes. When he was younger, he loved to run, bowl and play catch. He was the family’s forever child and was deeply loved. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 31, 2023 in St Gregory's Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02124 at 10 o'clock. Interment Private.
