Michael A. Peterson, of Milton, 58, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Loving husband of JoAnne M. Peterson. Beloved father of Casie Anne Peterson and Ryan Michael Peterson of Milton. Cherished son of Nancy (Peterson) Kearns and the late Charles Peterson. Brother of Charlie and his wife Jean Peterson of Milton, Stephen and his wife Beth Peterson of Milton and Chris and his wife Amy Peterson of Hudson. Stepbrother of Eileen Friedland, Jack Kearns, Brenda Kearns, Steven Kearns, and the late Michael Kearns. Son in law of Joe and Anne Manning of Milton. Michael will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the many friendships he treasured.

Michael was born in Boston and raised in Milton. He graduated from Milton High School, Class of 1986, and later from UMASS Boston. He had a passion for hockey that started at an early age and shared his love of hockey with his three brothers. He proudly served as captain of the Milton High hockey team from his sophomore year through his senior year. He continued playing hockey in college and well into his 40s, where he formed and maintained many lifelong friendships. Michael also loved golf and always enjoyed spending a day on the course with family and friends, especially at Farm Neck Golf Club.

He started working at an early age in the Peterson Lawncare business. After college, Michael worked many years in the sales industry. Along with his work, Michael found his greatest fulfillment in helping others. Michael was always there to lend a hand, whether it was working on a home project, tackling a repair, or helping a friend or family member with whatever needed to be done.

Michael’s proudest role was being a father. His children were his greatest pride and joy. He loved them beyond measure, treasuring every milestone, supporting every endeavor and so proud of their accomplishments. Michael’s favorite moments were those spent with his wife and children.

Many will remember Michael as having a heart of gold. He lit up a room with his charm and charismatic personality. He genuinely loved hearing about others’ lives and their successes. He always had a kind word. Michael was genuine, gentle, and profoundly caring; he loved his family and friends and made the world a better place. He will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Saturday September 12 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Friday, 4-8 PM. Interment in Milton Cemetery will be private at a later date.
