Obituary for Merline Stewart
Merline A. Stewart was born on December 10, 1930, in Duncans, in the parish of Trelawny, Jamaica. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ignatius Stewart and Violet Douglas. Merline departed this life on September 17, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, compassion, faith, and service. Merline was a high school graduate who dedicated many years of her working life to caring for others as a nurse's assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she faithfully served until her retirement. Her gentle nature, compassion, and willingness to help made her a source of comfort for those around her. She never hesitated to extend a helping hand to anyone in need, and her caring spirit touched the lives of many throughout her life.
Her faith was at the heart of who she was. Merline's greatest passion was her church. Merline's relationship with God guided the way she lived her life. She found joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others. Her love for people reached far beyond her immediate family, and many will remember her for the warmth of her spirit and the genuine concern she showed to everyone she encountered.
Merline was preceded in death by her beloved eldest son, Delroy Tucker. She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Beverly Tucker, Marvea Thompson, and Leontine Thompson, along with her grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, representing four generations of family who will carry her memory forward.
Though her absence will be deeply felt, Merline's memory will live on in the hearts of the generations who knew and loved her. The values she embodied—faith, kindness, compassion, and service—will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Her life reminds us that a person's greatest legacy is not simply the years they live, but the love they give and the lives they touch. May the soul of Merline A. Stewart rest peacefully and eternally, and may her memory continue to be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
