Matthew David Schaub, of Milton, formerly of Washington DC, died peacefully Monday June 29, 2026.
Born in Boston, Matthew was raised in Milton, graduating from Collicott Elementary and Pierce Middle schools, BC High (1999) and Bridgewater State University (2005). At BC High he ran for the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams. He was very active in the Sigma Pi fraternity at Bridgewater State.
Matthew devoted his time and energy to public service. He worked as a writer, researcher, scheduler, tracker and analyst on many political campaigns across the country, including Iowa, Nebraska, Washington State and most notably, the reelection campaign for Barack Obama in 2012. He has been the research director for the Democratic Governors Association for the last four years. Matthew was passionate about politics and Boston sports. He could talk for hours on both topics.
His greatest joy was the lasting friendships he had developed over the years. Matthew loved people.
Beloved son of Noel A. and Catherine T. (Leonard) Schaub of Milton. Brother of Michael of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Ann of Walpole, Christopher and his wife Stefanie of Cromwell, CT, Andrew and his fiancé Brooke Raisman of Quincy, Suzanne of Quincy and Elizabeth and her fiancé Alex Jablon of Newton. Matthew is survived by his girlfriend Whitney Hayes and nephew and nieces Brody, Jordan, Mia and Josie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Wednesday July 8 at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Tuesday 4-7 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Matthew’s memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
