Obituary for Mary K. Vera
Mary (Leen) Vera, of Milton, passed away on July 30th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Juan Carlos Vera, of Milton, for 50 years. Devoted mother to Maria Palma, and husband Mario, of Easton, Teresa, and husband Ian, of Milton, and Daniel, of Hyannis. Cherished ‘Abuela’ to Jameson, Maxwell, Liam, and Emmet. Dear sister of William Leen, of Braintree, and John Leen, and wife Edwina, of Hanover. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Leen, and brothers Henry Leen and Thomas Leen. Mary also leaves behind a mother in law, sisters in law, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family in Asunción, Paraguay.
Mary was born January 25, 1945 in Boston, and raised in Dorchester. A student of St. Gregory’s School, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Master of Library Science from Emmanuel College. Mary was a librarian at Boston University Medical Library, where she met Juan Carlos. After traveling Europe and the Americas, Mary and Carlos married on September 20, 1975, and settled in Milton, where she devoted her life to raising her children. Mary was a huge Boston sports fan, especially for her beloved Red Sox, she was a devout member of St Mary of the Hills church, and was the most loving Abuela to her four grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 4, 2025, in Saint Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02124 at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours, Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, 3-6 pm. Interment Milton Cemetery.
