Mary Jane Carney (Shiner) of Dorchester passed away on July 6, 2021.

Beloved wife of the late Charles L. Carney and longtime companion of the late Robert “Bob” Drummond. Loving mother of Peter Carney of Natick and Claudia Carney of Brockton, and the late David and Robert Carney. Mother in law of Theresa Carney of Natick. Sister of Joseph “Buster” Shiner of Braintree, Teresa Shiner of Quincy, Joy Nazarian of New York, Jacqueline Bardasz of Brockton and the late Anna May Shiner, Dorothy Burr, Evelyn Creedon, Raymond Shiner and Marilyn Ruma. Devoted Nana of Charles and his wife Jackie, Sandra and her husband Bob, Erika and Brian. Cherished Great Nana of Gabrielle, Patrick, Kyle and Reagan. Mary Jane is also lovingly survived by many close friends and extended family.

Mary Jane was born and raised in Dorchester. After many years of raising her children and being a homemaker, Mary returned to the work force. During her time at Bay State Skills in Boston Mary formed many lifelong friendships. Mary Jane enjoyed bingo, crosswords, trips to Cape Cod and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and was a member of Castle Island Association. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Monday July 12 at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Sunday 2-5PM. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Boston.
