Obituary for Marta Acevedo-Thomas

Marta Acevedo-Thomas passed away on May 4, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply.

Marta was a devoted mother and wife, whose strength, resilience, and work ethic shaped the lives of those around her. She worked as a florist bringing creativity, care, and dedication into everything she did. Whether through her work or her presence, Marta built and nurtured beauty in the world around her.

Above all, she loved her children unconditionally. She was an amazing mother—steadfast, giving, and deeply present. The kind of love she gave is what makes this loss so profound.

She will be remembered for her strength, her faith, and the quiet ways she showed up for the people she loved every single day.

I call Marta a miracle baby. Though out the time I have know her especially as a follower of Jesus, through her health challenges God has given her extra strength to keep fighting. Marta has used her gift of arranging beautiful flower for our small group events, as well as for our church family. I'm going to miss her giving spirit. Bridget McCormick

Marta and I met by phone first as she was sick and I was recovering from having a baby. We continued talking by phone . We met in person about a month or two later at church. Our children were the same ages . We became friends and continued going to events for the kids. Marta was very giving and sweet despite her illness. Very good with floral arrangements and was able to open up her first floral shop. Great mother to her children and wife to Wesley. I will miss her very much.
