Obituary for Mario Gomes

Mario Gomes of Boston died on July 21, 2026. He was 63 years old.

Beloved husband of Carla Chaves of Boston. Loving father of Elisingela Gomes of Nice, France, Jassira Gomes and Cathleen Gomes both of Boston. Cherished grandfather of Luin and Luana Cardosa.

Mario was born in Praia, Cape Verde. He is remembered by his family as being a caring, happy go lucky man. He loved the sunshine and warm weather, cookouts and the company of good friends, and making people smile and having a good time. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved him.

Family and friends invited to attend viewing on Friday July 31st from 4-8PM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester Lower Mills.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday August 1st at 10AM in St. Patrick Church, 400 Dudley Street, Roxbury.

Interment in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

    It is hard to believe that I lost my brother. It was only last year, we were together spend time for holiday in Cape Verde. He was in good spirits, looking healthy but I didn't know he had an underline health issues. He kept it himself. When he went back to America, I got a bad news that he was very sick. The decline was so fast. It is so hard to believe he is no longer with us. I love you Always. Your big brother Djinho

    Mario was such a humble man and a great friend. If it was within his power, there was nothing he wouldn't do for you. He had one of the kindest hearts, and I'm so thankful to have known him.
