Obituary for Mario Farina

Mario Farina of Milton, Massachusetts, was born on June 22, 1956, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to the late Caridad Farina and Yvon Duteau. He attended private schools, an education that gave him the opportunity to travel beyond Haiti at a young age and broaden his experiences.

In 1978, Mario immigrated to the United States with his siblings and made Boston his home. He graduated from West Roxbury High School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Throughout his life, Mario built a career rooted in service and dedication. He worked as a chauffeur, a school bus driver, an inspector for the City of Boston's Inspectional Department, and most recently in transportation for Boston Public Schools.

Mario was a well-known and beloved figure in the Haitian community, appreciated for the many ways he helped others. He proudly called himself "Super Mario," inspired by the popular video game character-a nickname many young children affectionately used for him. He was also an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Boston, where he faithfully practiced his Catholic faith.

Mario learned to cook from his paternal grandmother and became a wonderful cook himself. He enjoyed exploring different cuisines and would always say, "As long as it tastes good," he would happily try it again.
If you knew Mario, you likely remember him dressed in slacks and a dress shirt. He took pride in his appearance and always made sure he looked and smelled his best. In Dorchester, he served for many years as co-manager of the group "Rara Bel Poze." He was also a devoted fan of his beloved Boston Celtics.

Mario leaves behind his children: Noonecia Farina, Cheryl Farina, Stephanie Farina, Lauren Farina, Amalie do Canto Farina, Richie Pierre, Steve Farina, and Herven Farina. He was a grandfather to Chaina Anselmé, Schneider Anselmé, Carli Blake and Gregory Jeudy and a great-grandfather to Carter Jeanty. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Marie Michelle B., Evelyne M., Bernard F., Josseline F., Margaret S., Florise J., Jamil D., Carmel O., and Jeniffer T., along with many nieces and nephews. Mario was a quiet man, but his presence resonated in every room.

Those who knew him well understood that his quiet
demeanor was not a sign of weakness, but of great strength.
