Obituary for Marilyn J. Cole
Marilyn J. Cole, most affectionately known as “Mal”, was born on October 20, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts. Marilyn was one of seven children from the union of the late Walter (Boston, MA) and Stella Nichols (Schuyler, VA). She attended Girls High in Boston. MA (1963) and proudly received her GED on March 1, 1974. She was the wife of Hayes Cole, Sr. for over 20 years. After raising her young children, she went to work for 33 years as a manufacturer with Polaroid and 3M. She left Boston, MA in 2020 to reside in Sunny Coconut Creek, FL where she enjoyed the beach, community events, and making new friends.
Marilyn is survived by her Children: Paul Cole and his wife Patrice Cole of Potsdam, NY; Hayes Cole and his wife Leslie Cole of Randolph, MA; Theresa Amos and her husband Garrick Amos Sr. of Miramar FL; and Brian Cole (preceded). Grandchildren: Latisha Hall, Garrick Amos Jr, Ashley Cole, Michael Cole (preceded), Bria Cole, and Brian Cole. Great Grandchildren Xavier Amos, Mason Hall, Carter Cole, Graycen, and Ayden Cole-Johnson ; Siblings, Naomi (Dolores) Singletary (preceded), Walter Nichols, Jr of Boston, MA (preceded), Deborah Addis of District Height, MD; Carl Nichols of Boston, MA, Cheryl Nichols of Boston, MA (preceded), Stella Nichols of Mattapan, MA; Sister-in-laws; Brother-in-laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and so many friends. Marilyn also leaves behind her long-time sister friends Teresa Claiborne, Imogene Stuckey, and Sylvia Nelson (Pearson).
Marilyn donated to a host of charities including the ASPCA & WWF. She loved animals. Also, she had a passion for photography – “The Polaroid Lady”, calendars, puzzles, road maps, and traveling brought her great joy. As a testament of her life, family and friends characterized her as; one who would open her home to you, sweet & genuine, another mother, caretaker, counselor, and that's just to name a few. “Smooth as butter, moving in slow motion effortlessly laughing with joy & love for life”. That was Mal!
Marilyn, thank you for being so selfless putting your family and friends first. You will be sorely missed. We love you!
Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Saturday, November 25th from 10-11AM. Funeral Service to begin at 11AM. Oak Lawn Cemetery, 427 Cummins Highway, Roslindale. Relatives and friends invited.
