Marie P. Collins, of Dorchester, passed away peacefully in her home in the company of family on December 15, 2025. She was 94 years old.

Originally from Portarra, Moycullen, County Galway, Ireland, Marie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She practiced the great arts of Irish hospitality and storytelling. She lived her life with an open heart and open door, offering a gracious welcome to all – particularly her cherished family from Ireland, England and Canada.

She loved sharing tales of her childhood in Ireland, and her daily adventures or misadventures and the characters she encountered along the way, all punctuated by her infectious laugh.

She had a gift for caring for people -- family, friends, and strangers alike -- and spent many rewarding years providing in-home care to the elderly and sick. A devout believer in the power of prayer, she found immense strength and comfort in her Catholic faith, especially in her final days. 

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; her brothers Edward McDonough of Norwood, Matthew McDonagh of Braintree, John (Sean) McDonagh of Dorchester, Tim McDonagh of Ireland, and her sisters, Mary Bridget Keady and Margaret Queenan of England and Sarah Melia of Ireland.

She is survived by her sister, Eileen Carr, of Woonsocket, RI; her daughters Patricia Collins of Dorchester and Joan Collins of West Roxbury; her son Sean Collins and his wife, Patti Collins, of Rockland; her son Patrick Collins and his wife, Christine Ramsdell, of West Roxbury; and her three grandchildren, Aidan, Isabella, and Parker Collins. She also is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and good friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Peter's Church, Dorchester, on Monday, Dec. 22, at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Please note: the Mass will be held upstairs in St. Peter’s; there is no elevator and the stairs can be challenging for those with mobility issues. Visiting hours will be held in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 2 to 5 PM.
