Obituary for Marie D. Roberson

Marie D. Roberson died on September 12, 2026. She was born to the late Edoisine (Confis) & Menelis Glozy in Mirebalais, Haiti on May 2, 1933.

Today I stand here on behalf of our entire family to celebrate the life of a woman who was the heart, the anchor, and the matriarch of this family.

My grandmother was gentle. She was patient. She was caring, courageous, loving, funny, and fiercely loyal. She loved her family with her whole heart, and she was grateful—truly grateful—for every small thing life gave her.

Cooking was her passion, but feeding people was her calling. You never left Grandma’s house hungry. And you never left without a $10 bill pressed firmly into your hand, whether you needed it or not. That was simply who she was without caring and always making sure everyone was taken care of. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you didn’t have enough, you were family or a stranger on the street asking for help. To her, everyone deserved a seat at her table.

Life did not always go her way, but she endured quietly and without complaint because her children always came first. She loved having family gathered around her, sharing stories about the good old days and laughing together until our sides hurt. She was simply put, the epitome of what a mother should be. God blessed her with a rare and beautiful gift: the ability to make everyone who walked through her door feel completely at home.

Her love was shown not only through her words, but through every meal she prepared, every story she shared, every dollar she gave, and every person she welcomed. Her generosity, strength, and love will remain in our hearts forever.

Her Family

Grandma had six brothers and sisters. Though she was not the oldest, she became the last one still living. Her father was Mellen Glozy, and her mother was Edisoine Confis.

She was married to Levius Roberson and had 8 biological children. My grandmother had 16 children in total, and Grandma claimed every single one of them as her own, without exception. She often said, “All of Papa’s kids are my kids, no exceptions.”

Closing

Grandma, you didn’t just raise a family; you built a legacy of love, generosity, and faith that will live on in every one of us. In this room, and in every child who will one day call one of us Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa. We will carry your stories. We will carry your laughter. And every time one of us feeds someone who is hungry, welcomes someone to our table, or slips a little extra into someone’s hand when they need it, we will carry a piece of you with us.

Your love will continue through us—the way we care for one another, the way we give without expecting anything in return, and the way we make others feel at home. We love you, Maman. We will miss you more than words can express, but we will carry your love with us for the rest of our lives.

We will never forget you. We will never forget the love you gave us. Rest peacefully, Maman. Your legacy lives on in all of us.

Visitation will be held at the Church of God Christian Life Center, 839 Washington Street, DORCHESTER on Saturday, September 26th from 9-10AM. Funeral Service to begin at 10AM. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.
