Marge’s nieces, nephews, close friends, and family were a treasured part of her life, especially best friends James “Jim” and Patricia “Pat” Gilmartin, Millis, MA and her lifelong friends, Marianne Connaughton, Needham, MA and Louise Mulry, Bellingham, MA. Marge was born in Boston, MA of Irish and Canadian immigrant parents from County Kerry and Prince Edward Island.

Marge was an extraordinary matriarch not only for her own family but also the extended family who knew her as their “beautiful Aunt Margaret”. She was the quiet guiding force in her children’s lives building a foundation with Gene that has grounded each child with the importance of family and friends. She had so many talents that were enjoyed by many but given to all in a very unassuming manner. An incredible baker who decorated the most beautiful cakes for any occasion, a talented painter who captured life’s moments in amazing artistry, an avid reader who enjoyed her book club as it opened her to new authors, and her most quiet talent, an amazing voice who could sing songs like lullabies and calm any baby. Her ability to shop for the best bargain was second to none. Her talents she considered hobbies but to be truthful it defined who she was. Her priority was always family as Gene moved through his career, she kept the home front moving smoothly no matter what direction it went in. Gene believed that their partnership allowed both to live the life they led and was forever grateful to her for that amazing legacy. As the children grew, Marge took great pride in starting a second career as a real estate agent. She was excellent at this aspect of her life and took incredible joy from seeing her customers through the process of a new home. Her excellence shone through in the amount of repeat clients she had throughout her 20 years in real estate. Her commitment to friendship was unheralded. She looked at family and friends as if they were the same. She wanted all to feel welcome in her presence. Holidays and the cottage at Humarock were always her joy. The opportunity to bring family together and remind all of their roots was important to her. She has left a lasting legacy for all of the next generation to benefit from and that generation will forever be indebted.
