Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Norris Melgard

Margaret “Peggy” Norris Melgard passed away on Thursday, June 25th in her home in Lake Mary, FL. after a short illness and surrounded by loved ones.

Peggy was born in Boston, MA on November 3, 1931 and grew up in Milton, MA. She graduated from Mount Ida College where she was a journalism and psychology major and a valued member of the equestrian team. Upon graduation, she worked as a paralegal in the law office of Howard D. Sharpe. In 1953, Peggy married attorney Robert K. Lamere and together they raised three children in Milton. From the late 70s until 1985, she worked as the rental manager for the Dexter Park Apartment complex in Brookline, MA. In 1981, Peggy married Richard Melgard and in 1985 they relocated to the Orlando area of Florida where they lived happily for four decades. Peggy loved travelling with family; she visited 42 countries and hosted 3 family cruises. Her lifelong love of writing never dimmed as she memorialized her travel adventures in several booklets and wrote “Toots’ Treasures” (a collection of her favorite quotes, poems and pearls of wisdom) for her grandchildren, who called her “Toots”.

Beloved daughter of the late Thomas A. Norris and Louise R. Norris, mother of the late R. Kent Lamere, Jr. and sister of the late Lawrence Norris, Paula Sydlowski and Mary Brady; Peggy is survived by her husband, Richard A. Melgard, her son David R. Lamere, her daughter, Elizabeth J. Lamere, her daughters in law Jean S. Lamere and Sandy Lamere, her grandchildren, Kelsey (Adam Witpen) Lamere, Dan (Brianna) and Kevin (Moira) Lamere; Katherine (Brandon) Canter, Caroline (Shane) Tuttle and Rachel Lamere; and Dante Vega Lamere, as well as her great grandchildren Madison, Camila and Penelope Canter; Lila and Myles Witpen; Leo and Owen Lamere; and Louise Lamere.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Mary of the Hills Church, 29 St. Mary’s Road, Milton on Saturday September 26th at 10:00 AM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
