Obituary for Lorraine Julian Mullen

Lorraine Julian Mullen, 100, of Quincy, MA , formerly of Dorchester, MA. Beloved wife of the late James A Mullen, Sr. Lorraine passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at All American Assisted Living in Wareham, MA. Lorraine was born on March 28, 1924 to Robert and Mary (Hagan) Julian in Boston, MA.

After graduating from Dorchester High School, she worked as a seamstress/designer for Conrad Chandler in Boston, and was also a chocolatier in the Walter Baker Company in Dorchester, MA, where she met James A. Mullen Sr. They married in 1949, living in Dorchester where they raised their family before moving to Quincy in 1972. Lorraine’s greatest job was that of mother to her three children and making sure they were happy, successful and secure. She also loved sewing and crocheting.

Loving mother of Lorraine Sardano and her husband Nicolas “Rick” of Quincy, MA, Dr. James A. Mullen Jr. and his wife Deborah of Wareham, MA and Eileen (Mullen) Mullen and her husband Neal of Kingston, MA.

She was also the beloved grandmother of, Richard, Nicole, Colleen, James III, Bridget, Adam and Paul and the cherished Great grandmother to Alexandra, Liam, Rhys, Sef, Sydney, Leena, Michael James, Aurora Julian, Matthew Lucas, Grace Michelle, Georgia MacKenzie and Lincoln Bosko and also a great-great grandson, Ebin. She was also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was pre-deceased by her sisters Mary “Dolly” Julian and Rita Julian McDonough.

The Mullen family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the entire staff at Compassionate Care Hospice and All American Assisted Living in Wareham, MA for the compassionate care they provided.

At Lorraine’s request, there will be no calling hours, and burial will be private. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. Mary’s Church, 115 Crescent Street, Quincy, MA 02169.

    I will miss seeing Lorraine at All American. I feel honored to have visited her and given her communion. She was always gracious and welcoming with a smile. My sympathy to her family. Roseanne Langan
