Obituary for Leonard Schneidman
Leonard "Len" Schneidman passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on March 29, 2023, after a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Len was a dedicated husband to his wife and the love of his life, Bridget, a devoted father to his beloved children Jon (wife Michele), Peter (wife Marie-Claire), Annie (husband Matt), and dog Gus, and an incredibly special grandfather to Charlie, Jane, Declan, and Callum and his grand-animals Lucky, Smokey, Juno, Jake, & Chester. He also leaves behind twin brother Melvin (wife Glenda), older sister Sheila, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and countless friends and colleagues from all phases of his life. Len was predeceased by his father Nathan Schneidman, mother Dorothy Fishner Schneidman, and dear first wife Cheryl Shapiro Schneidman. Len was born on January 20, 1941, in New York City. A graduate of Forest Hills High School, he attended Hobart College, where he was a member of the basketball team, Druid Society, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to graduate from Harvard Law School in 1965 before attending New York University Law School, where he received an LLM in Taxation. After clerking at the United States Tax Court, he embarked upon a long and distinguished career as an international tax attorney in both New York and Boston until his retirement in December 2022. Len had an incredible passion for life and loved traveling the world, listening to Bruce Springsteen on repeat, trips to Cape Cod and Adirondacks, fine men's fashion, and enjoying a delicious meal while dressed to the nines. The most important quality of Len was his kindness - once you met him, he won you over with his sense of humor, kind & bright eyes, and warm smile. He was taken too soon but will never leave our hearts - "Right now I'm in a different place, and though we seem apart, I'm closer than I ever was, I'm there inside your heart".
