Obituary for Lawrence A. Perfetti

On Monday December 5th, 2022, Lawrence A. Perfetti of Braintree passed away at the age of 87. Devoted husband of Lena (Carnicelli) Perfetti. Loving father of Marie Perfetti and her husband Robert Rector, Michael Perfetti, Joanne Farrington, David Perfetti and his wife Kelly, all of Braintree. Grandfather of Kristen and Nicholas Farrington, Julia, Andrew and Sarah Perfetti. Son of the late David and Lena (Christiano) Perfetti, Brother of the late Jean and Roger Perfetti. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Born into an Italian family on January 3rd 1935, in Quincy, MA. A graduate of Quincy High School in 1952. Thereafter, he began studying Electrical Engineering at Northeastern University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout his life he valued the importance of a good education. He made certain that his family always worked hard in school to help build a strong base for themselves.

Larry’s first job was with Bethlehem Steel in Quincy, MA. He worked on the U.S.S. Long Beach, the world’s first nuclear powered surface ship, and U.S.S. Bainbridge, another military ship. After Bethlehem Steel, he began working for Boston Edison, where he would spend the remaining 30 years of his employment. At Boston Edison, he handled projects such as lighting the city of Boston and working on the first jumbotron at Fenway Park.

Larry served in the National Guard, assigned to the Signal Corp for a number of years.

After graduating from college, he was reacquainted with his elementary school friend, Lena Carnicelli . They married in 1961. They moved to Braintree in 1963 where they raised their four children. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching them all grow up and raise their families in Braintree as well. He had 5 grandchildren who referred to him as ‘Papa’. Spending time with family was important to him.

Larry was an avid reader. He enjoyed woodworking as well working on home improvement projects. He loved to spend time on Cape Cod in Dennis with his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy MA, Friday December 9th at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours omitted. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree MA.
