Laurence P. “Dusty” Maguire of Dorchester passed away on February 2, 2026. He was 78 years old.

Beloved husband of the late Christine M. (MacPherson) Maguire. Loving father of Laurie Maguire of Watertown and the late Erika Maguire. Brother of Thomas Maguire and his wife Mary of Canton and Marjorie Moss and her husband Bob of Mashpee. Larry is also lovingly survived by nieces, nephews and longtime friends Mark and Nina.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Dorchester, a place where he affectionately called home. He was a dedicated building inspector for the City of Cambridge for 40 years before retiring. Larry enjoyed staying active, he could often be found riding his bike through the City of Boston or kayaking on the ocean. He was an avid reader and history buff. Most of all Larry loved spending time with his daughter Laurie, never missing a weekend taking her out to breakfast or lunch; she was truly the cornerstone of his life. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved him. Larry was a proud Army Veteran.

In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Larry may be made to a Veteran’s charity of your choice.

Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend a mass of Christian burial on Friday, February 13th at 11 AM in St. Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue.

Visitation will be prior to the mass from 9-10:30 AM at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS.

Interment will be at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
