Obituary for Konstantinos "Kostas" Kyranos

Konstantinos "Kostas" Kyranos of Milton passed away peacefully on September 26 at the age of 96. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Kassiani Kyranos; his son John Kyranos (wife Alexandria) of Milton; his daughter, Maria Stein of Milton; his grandchildren, Kassi, Thomas, and Konstantine; and his great-granddaughter, Alexandria. He leaves behind his brother, Christos Kyranos of Lakeville; his sisters-in-law, Elaine Kyranos of Taunton and Frederika Kyranos of Naoussa, Greece; and his many beloved nieces and nephews.

Born in Naoussa, Greece to Ioannis and Maria Kyranos, he was a peach farmer until he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1966. He ran a coffee shop in Boston's South End with his brother, Nikolaos, that was frequented by the local Greek community. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he brought his love of gardening with him to the US. His home featured peach trees, grapevines, an expansive vegetable garden, and flowers that inspired the admiration of many Milton residents over the years. He taught the Greek language and traditions to his grandchildren and was involved in the larger Greek community here in the US. He was best known within his family for his jovial nature and was always smiling or cracking a quiet joke. He delighted in his grandchildren, whether it was telling them stories when they were little, driving them to every after-school activity when they were growing up, or celebrating their accomplishments as adults. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Visiting hours will be held at St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree, MA 02184 from 10 - 11 am on Tuesday, September 30, followed by the funeral service from 11 am - 12 pm. Interment Milton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Kostas's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

So sorry for your loss- in reading his obituary, it's quite apparent that Kostas was a very talented man. I would have loved to have seen his gardens. Our condolences to all of you but especially to Mrs. Kyranos, Maria, Tom, Kassi and Dean. Our thoughts are with you. May he rest in peace in the presence of our Savior. God bless you all. Jerry & Tobi Stein (Tom Stein Sr's brother and sister-in-law from MN)
