Kathryn M. (Cauley) Driscoll, of Milton, Scituate and Marco Island, 94, passed away peacefully September 2, 2026.

Loving wife of the late J. Barry Driscoll. Beloved mother of Brian and wife Tracy of Boston, Dennis and wife Aímee of Milton, Jay and wife Mary Lou of South Boston, Jane of Hingham, and Sally and husband Andrew Shannon of Milton. Daughter of the late Dr. John H. Cauley and Katherine (Foley) Cauley. Sister of the late Patricia Ross. Loving Grammy to 17 grandchildren and 21 great – grandchildren.

Kath had a happy childhood picking pears off a backyard tree in Dorchester and spending summers visiting relatives in Montreal and frolicking on the beach in Minot. She made unique connections at Notre Dame Academy and Regis College ultimately hitting Legend status in the Home Economic Department. She met J. Barry Driscoll in Scituate and remained devoted to 62 years of marriage. To pass time while her beloved was serving in the Navy, Kath took advantage of her ambidextrous writing abilities. J. Barry would open his weekly letter and found it could only be read by placing it up to a mirror. This act exemplifies her creativity and fun with which she approached life. Their partnership in marriage produced a multitude of friendships, a successful business, and 5 children introducing Kath to the role of a lifetime.

Motherhood to Kath meant attention to detail and unmatched effort. She attended every game, drove to all activities and you knew she arrived when you heard “hoo hoo” from the sidelines. In her role as grandmother, a day at the beach with Gram ended with a tub, slicked back hair, clean pajamas, and an Aunt Stella facial. Little people drifting off to sleep knew blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs would be waiting for them in the morning. Thursday nights in Marco Island meant dinner near the Esplanade so everyone could hear music and dance outdoors then stop for an ice cream on the way home. Her advice given to every grandchild heading off to college was “make a new friend every day”. Her world was filled with an abundance of people she managed to convince to go places and do things that they may not have done otherwise. We are all better for it.

Food played an integral role in Kath’s life, acting as a conduit for much of the good she poured in the world. Kath established many family traditions with unmatched energy and clever creativity. Her most famous dish; Sunday Turkey dinner, even in hot summer months, nourished family, friends, and busloads of college students. Chicken a la King, homemade brownies and angel food cake with vanilla ice cream were also on the menu regularly.

Kath’s affinity for bargain shopping, travel, cook, play, and entertainment to make fun for family and friends was unmatched. Gram was well-traveled and could pack a bag in minutes. She especially enjoyed London and the Royal Doulton factory. Kath placed an extremely high value on friendships which she found on many tennis courts and golf courses. She never cared about the score. She just simply wanted to be around friends and have a few laughs.

At the age of 70, she received a cancer diagnosis, but cancer was no match for her. She doubled down and rededicated the rest of her days to living an abundant life. Kath knew laughter was very good medicine and made time for others who needed support by writing a card or delivering a warm loaf of Irish Bread, a practice continued well into her 80’s. To those lucky enough to have participated in Kath’s life on earth, may you be gifted with her wisdom and guidance from heaven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Tuesday September 8 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Monday 3-7 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
