Obituary for Kathleen Marie (Harrington) Berry
BERRY – Kathleen (Harrington), age 70, of Quincy formerly of South Boston, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathleen was born and raised in South Boston and attended Gate of Heaven School for elementary through high school. She was a member of the graduating class of 1973. Kathleen enjoyed many careers throughout her life including positions at Filene’s Basement and administrative work with Attorney Leiberman. She co-owned a dance studio with her sister for a number of years in South Boston. She was also a floral designer in Quincy. Kathleen found her true calling in life working with animals. She adored and cherished her career as a veterinary technician and pharmacist at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Quincy and South Coastal Animal Health in Weymouth.
In her leisure time, Kathleen enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was an avid gardener, often spending hours in her yard tending to her flowers and talking to the wildlife that would often visit her. Come Friday and Saturday nights, you could find her singing karaoke with her friends. Kathleen enjoyed all kinds of music, with her favorite being country, and Elvis Presley truly was the king in her eyes. She loved vacationing in Lake George and Disney World. No one cheered louder than Kathleen, whether it be for her beloved Patriots, or her girls during their many dance performances. Because of her love for musicals, her grandchildren will know the likes of Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Judy Garland and others. They will grow up watching classics such as The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz and Singing in the Rain.
Beloved wife of 30 years of Steven Berry of Quincy. Devoted mother of Kathleen (McCarthy) Shepherd and her husband Matt of Hampstead, NH, and Christine (McCarthy) Remlinger and her husband Kurt of Pembroke. Cherished Nana to Veronica and Paul Remlinger, Charlie and Grace Shepherd. Loving sister of Mary Smith of Weymouth, Eleanor Burke of Quincy, and Patricia Woodberry of Hanover. Caring sister-in-law of Joseph Burke of Quincy, the late Michael Smith and Daniel Woodberry. Also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
