Obituary for Joseph Simon

Joseph Simon, age 77, a Boston resident, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Joseph was born December 4, 1943, in Williamsville Whiteland, Trinidad, to the late Edmund and Leorta Simon. He later relocated to St. Croix, where he resided for several years. In 1975, Joseph settled in Boston, MA, and worked as a Pipefitter Journeyman for MJ Flaherty. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local 537 and retired in 2008.

Joseph served many years in church ministries. He taught Sunday School and served on the pastor’s board at the New Testament Church of God in Boston and St. Croix. Joseph was a member of Jubilee Christian Church and served as a faithful Gatekeeper. Bishop G.A Thompson inspired Joe to attend Bethel Bible school to explore his passion for the word of God. Joseph decided to enroll in Bethel Bible Institute and graduated in 1995. He later became a Chaplain and an instructor of the Sophomore Class, where he taught for over twenty years.

Joe, as friends and family so affectionately know him, enjoyed spending time with those closest to him, and his home was a welcoming haven for many. He loved sports, reading, traveling, and enjoyed being outdoors with his family and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband to his wife Jo-Ann, a devoted father to his children and grandchildren, and a faithful man of God.

Joe personified the best humanity. He was a man of order who operated in humility and servanthood. He left a legacy as a man of character and honor, a man of peace, a man of few words but filled with wisdom. He personified a quiet strength that will forever be remembered.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Edmund and Leorta Simon, siblings Prudence Gloria Simon Smith, Lennox Simon, Lenore Simon Atwell, Kennyouth Simon, and son Bert Simon. He is survived by Jo-Ann Simon, his beloved wife of 32 years, his children Andress, Errol and David Simon, and Kindra Jones, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, his siblings; Cynthia Simon Pearson, Eileen Simon Debellotte, Emlyn Lyris Simon McCray, Nick Kelvin Simon & his wife Hazel, Annette Gertrude Simon, Wilber Michael Michael, Ula Hyacinth Simon, Steve Simon, two brothers-in-law Franklin, Pernell, sisters-in-law, Greta, Elrita, Ave, Gail-Anne, and 110 nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

The viewing will be held at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, on Saturday, May 22, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The funeral service and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking that you make a donation to Bethel Bible Institute, at 112-114 Humboldt Avenue, Boston, Ma or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Joe’s memory.
