Obituary for John "Jack" P. Conroy

John “Jack” P. Conroy, age 87, of Hingham, passed away peacefully on August 7th.

Born in South Boston to the late Patrick and Mary (McDonough) Conroy, Jack was a proud “Triple Eagle,” having graduated from Boston College High School, Boston College, and Boston College Law School. Jack viewed Doug Flutie as the G.O.A.T. and Tom Brady was a close second.

Jack started his career at KPMG and ultimately left to start his own tax practice. He continued to be an active tax advisor until his death, but his true passion was spending time with his family and many friends. His positivity and outlook on life were an inspiration to many.

In addition to spending time with loved ones, Jack was actively involved with the Friends of Norcap organization for over thirty years.

Jack was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Loughlin) Conroy. He was a devoted father to Patrick Conroy and his wife Corinne of Hingham, Kathleen Daskal and her husband Jeff of Marietta, GA, and the late Timothy Conroy and his wife Kristen of Hanover. He was the cherished grandfather of Aiden, Emily, and Brendan Conroy; Hannah and Owen Daskal; and Katherine and Blake Conroy.

He is also survived by his brother, Reverend Francis Conroy of Boston, and was predeceased by his loving sisters Annellen Valle and Mary Hogan.

He wrote, “When the good Lord calls me to be with my beautiful bride, Patricia; my wonderful son, Timmy; my parents; and my siblings, I will be able to look back on my wonderful life on earth with great joy. I certainly was a lucky individual to have lived this long and to have had such wonderful family and friends. My beloved seven grandchildren were a distinct blessing. P.S. The last song at my life celebration should be ‘Hit the Road Jack (and Don’t You Come Back No More)’ by Ray Charles.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Friday August 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM. We had breakfast every Saturday at Mansfield Airport since the pandemic. He was the nicest guy I have ever met. He always had a smile on his face and was always asked how your week. We would talk about family and he'd always ask how my daughter was doing in California. He would talk about Owen and how Owen would predict different college football games and always be right. I miss him dearly. Truely the nicest person I ever meet! David Ganley

I first met Jack while working at PMM & Co. in the early 70s. Since that time, we have kept in touch on a regular basis. Our conversations would generally start by talking about tax matters and then quickly shift to a discussion about family. Jack loved to talk about the precious time he had with his grandchildren. In turn, he would never forget to ask me about mine. That was Jack. We talked about his love for his family, memories of his trip to Australia, and his more recent trip to Fenway Park with family. Jack's outlook on life was phenomenal. How he was able to talk about memories and the future in a strong voice, while making funny remarks, I will never know. I cannot think about this without getting choked up. Jack was my best friend and will never be forgotten. He would usually close our conversations by saying, "If you see me at the airport, don't say Hi, Jack." I will miss you. Rest in peace, my friend.

Jack had such a positive attitude and wonderful sense of humor but what I loved most was his true love for his family. He could not tell enough stories about the grandkids and I know he'll be watching over them. We really looked forward to seeing him each tax season and hearing his wonderful stories. Our kids will miss the how was school question, and then later in life, how was your day question. Such a nice guy. Our thoughts are with the family.

Condolences to the family. I worked with Jack as a young professional at PMM (now KPMG). We both worked hard and in the office at 6 or so in the morning. He was my "mentor/guidance" partner as I rose thru the ranks. Provided great advice, but the most important was remember family should always be first. He practiced what he preached. Jack-Rest in peace.

Dear Fr. Frank, I am sorry for your loss but thank God for our Faith! It reminds us that this life is not a destination but rather a journey to our Heavenly Home! Please know that you are in my daily prayers. I want you to feel that peace which only God can give - the same peace which Jack, your parents & loved ones are now experiencing in Heaven. I have so many fond memories of " Uncle Jack" - He was such a great man, always with that amazing smile, which was so contagious! I will always remember him along how school was, but unfortunately, I never had the correct answer to get my quarter! Thinking of all of the Conroys, Valles and Hogans and sending you love. I'm so soy for your loss❤️ Joan ( McCole) Luna

What a lovely man. Jack came to "Renee's Cafe" once a month for the last few years. He worked with my stepdad. He had been helping my mother since my stepdad passed. He loved his wife so much. He adored his children and grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was supposed to come for breakfast Thursday. We are so saddened by his passing. Renee Nilo
