Mr. Jones, Our last conversation like many others in the past ended with laughter.Thinking of you brings back childhood memories of neighbors, friends and growing up on Hubbard Ave. I always reflect on the loving memories you shared about my father at his funeral. You were loved by the Cooke family. Johnny, you will be missed.❤️❤️❤️

John Jones was much more than a neighbor to our family. He was a trusted friend, deeply loved and respected by our parents, and someone we could always count on. We will forever cherish the kindness and devotion he and his beloved Mimi showed our aging parents during their final years in Boston. Even after their passing, John remained connected to our family and was always willing to lend a hand. John's love for Roxbury, was deep and enduring. He had a clear vision for its future and the conviction to advocate tirelessly for the people, history, and character that made it special. Sometimes feisty and always authentic, he was a steadfast voice for the community he cared about. Through his persistence, generosity, and commitment, he helped shape Roxbury's future, protect the qualities that made it distinctive, and create opportunities for the people who would call it home for generations to come. His advocacy and devotion leave a lasting legacy in the neighborhood he championed and in the lives he touched. We are grateful for John's friendship, generosity, and place in our family. Even as he joined his beloved Mimi, we will remember him with deep affection and gratitude. The Wesley Family

Cousin John's mom Lydia and my mom Gladys were sisters. He and my sister, Sandy were both born on the exact same day and year--"twin cousins". John came to be one of our family historians with an indomitable sense of humor! He will certainly be missed. My sincerest condolences go out to all of Johnny's family. May he rest until the time when all is new and Jesus' promise is realized, "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out...". (John 5:28,29; Revelation 21:3,4) Michelle Thomas

To a beautiful brother from another mother. I met my brother John at age 28 when our father brought him by my apartment. My stepmother mentioned him when I was 12 saying he lived in Cambridge. Ironically I grew up in Cambridge on the state at the same time. John met his father when a relative pointed him out as he was exiting a street parlor gambling spot driving a red convertible Cadillac. Our father brought him by that night to my home to meet me and my wife and his niece Michelle. We went to see his mother that who confirmed that our father was in fact his. John worked for the IRS and was graduate of Northeastern University and was very knowlable about Roxbury and Boston properties acquiring several dozen three deckers and an historical mansion. I joined our father and John in a joint venture sub chapter S Purchasing a historical hotel Dartmouth From HUD outbidding A Nubian Notion. For 26 years we held on to the 45 unit and 12 ground commercial spaces meeting once a week at my home. I was fortunate to work with a most talented and controversial intelligent and fiesty individual firmly set in his ways who could not be convinced once he decided something. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. Mansion at the bottom of Fort Hill.
