Obituary for John A. Nesti

John A. Nesti, age 70, a longtime resident of Braintree, died suddenly, Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by his loving family. He lived in Braintree for over sixty years in the home he helped his father build.

John was born in Quincy, to the late Alfred P. and Ann L. (Peruzzi) Nesti. Raised and educated in Quincy and Braintree, he was a graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1971. He earned an associate’s degree from Quincy Junior College and studied locksmithing at North Bennet Street School in Boston.

John was a locksmith for nearly fifty years. Owner and operator of the former Nesti Lock Service of Braintree, he lent his skills to his colleagues and dear friends at Granite Lock Co., Inc. of Quincy for many years. John also worked in maintenance for the Quincy Public Schools during the early part of his career.

John enjoyed forty summers with his family at their seasonal cottage in Salt Air Village in Dennis Port, Mass. He was an avid fisherman, swimmer, bicyclist, and reader.

He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Shannon) Nesti, with whom he celebrated a forty-sixth wedding anniversary in August, the two were together for fifty years. John is also survived by Patricia S. “Tricia” Nesti of Abington, Ann K. Nesti Giuffrida and her husband Felix of Franklin, to whom he was a devoted father and father-in-law.

He was the brother of Robert L. Nesti of Boston, and the late Alfred J. Nesti who recently passed away on August 25, 2024. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews, not to mention his many “adopted Summer sons and daughters”.

Memorial Visiting Hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, East Milton, on Monday, October 21, from 4 – 7 p.m. Remembrances will be shared at 6:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
