Joan T. (Gordon) King, of Weymouth, passed away on March 31 at the age of 85, at Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in Braintree, after a period of failing health. Born the youngest of William and Anna Gordon’s eight children. Joan was raised in Milton and graduated from Milton High School in 1954.

Before marrying in 1967, she was a secretary for Aetna Insurance. While raising her family, she was also her mother’s primary caregiver, volunteered at her daughters’ schools and local church, and spent many years as the treasurer of her bowling league. Joan “Goog” loved getting together weekly for lunch and to play cards and dominoes with her childhood friends, fondly referred to as ‘The Girls’-Ellie, Diane, Ann, Nancy, Kay, Sandy & Nancy.

She was predeceased by her husband Ed and her siblings Millie Cusimano, Mary Clerk, Bill Gordon, Barbara Colleary, Arthur Gordon, & Claire Fitzpatrick. Loving mother of Anne and Peter Newman, Beth and Tim Condon and Tina King all of Weymouth. Cherished Nana to PJ, Jared, Rachel, Danny and Nick. Sister of Dick Gordon and his wife Beverly of Brockton; aunt to many nieces and nephews, especially her niece, Claire (Fitzpatrick) Saunders of Georgia, who was like a daughter to her. Many thanks to her niece, Tricia (Gordon) Heenan of Brockton and her peers at South Shore Hospital for the love and care provided to Joan over the years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Thursday April 7th at 10:30 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Wednesday April 6th from 4-8 PM. Burial Milton Cemetery.
