Obituary for Jennefer Trowers-Smith

Jennefer Trowers-Smith passed away quietly on January 3, 2025, surrounded by her daughters and loved ones after a fearless battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jennefer was born July 22, 1954, in Manchester, Jamaica. She was the youngest girl and the eighth child of Leonard and Euphemia Trowers. Jennefer leaves behind her two daughters, Nicole and Samantha, and her beloved grandchildren, Akani and Thea. Jennefer is preceded by her siblings Ena, Helen, Norma, David, Heather, and Tony, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and amazing friends.
Jennefer immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, on February 7, 1971, at 16. She attended and graduated from Girls’ High. She worked as a phlebotomist and a CNA at various hospitals across Boston. She attended Youville, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certification. She then went on to further her education at Mass Bay Community College to earn her degree as a registered nurse.
In August 1979, she married Bernard Smith and became a devoted mother to two daughters. Over the years, her family grew to include two granddaughters, Akani, born in 2007, and Thea, born in 2023. Jennefer was a doting grandmother and a loving mother who would do anything for her children.
During her career, she spent over 15 years at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center and dedicated more than 30 years to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she gained a whole family.
Jennefer’s favorite pastime was reminiscing with her siblings, whether on the phone or all gathered in the kitchen, laughing and telling stories. Jennefer was a devoted member of the Faithful Church of Christ family and, more recently, Emmanuel Temple Pentecostal church. She was never one to shy away from any responsibility when it came to serving in the house of the Lord. She served in the Women’s Ministry, the church choir, and the Usher board.
She enjoyed traveling with her daughters, sisters, and friends, spending time with her siblings and grandchildren, and attending church. One can always count on Jennefer for her honesty. She had a special touch that she gave not only to her friends and family but also to her patients, who loved her so dearly.
οΏΌ Jennefer will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her never-ending smile. She was a comforting presence in everyone’s life that she touched and someone who will be remembered and greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Emmanuel Temple Pentecostal Church, 471 Warren Street, Dorchester on Friday January 10th from 10-11AM. Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery

I am so sorry to hear of the news of Jennefer's passing. I am a Physical Therapist at BWH and had the pleasure of working alongside her for many years! She always radiated with her beautiful smile and caring and compassionate nurse care. When we saw each other, we'd always share stories & updates about our children and she always beamed with pride when talking about her daughters and granddaughters. And what was always so sweet and funny was every time we'd see each other the past few years, she'd tell someone nearby how she'd known me since I had babies in my belly (which was back in the early 2000s). It was hard for us to both believe how many years we had worked at BWH & how the years passed so quickly! Much love to her family, who was clearly the center of her universe and who she loved so much xo

I met Jennefer on a flight from Jamaica in July of 1987. It was my flight to Boston where I was recruited as a registered nurse. She had her 2 little girls and her husband with her. I helped distracting Nicole and Samantha and the rest is history. I had made my first friend in Boston!. I remember helping her house hunt and when we entered this home we both said "this is it". She ended up buying this house! Will miss Jennefer! Condolences to her family! Avril JacksonBlack Her laugh was infectious
