We are celebrating the life of Jean Eudes Paul, a dynamic man who graced us with 90 years of passion, stories, and love. Jean was a skilled carpenter whose hands shaped countless works of art and built many homes; and he also served the Duvalier regime in different diplomatic capacities.
He was born in Port Au Prince, Haiti, on November 18, 1933, to his now-deceased parents Jean Pierre Dorcéus Paul and Rosamise Bazinette. In pursuit of a better life and more opportunities for himself and his family, Jean migrated to the United States in 1972. He had seven siblings and is survived by his only living sister, Solange Dorcéus, who resides in Haiti. His deceased siblings include André Dorcéus, Arnold Dorcéus, Victor Paul, Anne Gefrard, and Antoimise Jean-Baptiste. Jean Paul had seven children when he left Haiti: Carole Paul Donna (MA), Gerald Paul (NY), Pierrot Paul (NY), Stanley Paul (Canada), Claudy, Tamara Paul (FL), the late Margaret Paul (NY) and Katia. After arriving in the United States, Jean Eudes Paul married Carole Baker Paul, and they shared three children: Jemany Paul, Gerald Paul, and Patricia Paul, all residing in New York. Jean’s legacy lives on through his many grandchildren: Soraya Présumé Calixte (with husband Prosper Calixte, MA), Jean Alain Présumé (with wife Stephanie Présumé, NY), Kétsia Paul (Guam), Brian Donna (CA), Aisha Donna (MA), Raquel Paul (NY), Natalie (NY), Whedler Jeannot (FL), Fredo and Megine Guillaume (NY), along with several great-grandchildren, including Esther, Joshua Calixte, Jacob Présumé, Leah, Shilo, and many more. He also leaves behind loving cousins, Monel Dorcéus Paul and Ducarmel Dorcéus, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends who cherished his presence.
