James “Jimmy” Griffin of Mission Hill passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 19, 2023. He was born in Boston to the late Pauline and Lawrence Griffin. Brother of Robert Griffin of South Boston, Gigi and wife Yoli Griffin of Cape Cod and Joseph and wife Darcy Griffin of California. Father to James and his wife Heather Donovan, Daniel and his wife Shawn Donovan and Mark Donovan of Maine, Shawn Griffin, Christoper Griffin and Alyssa Griffin of Boston, Joseph and his Wife Nicole Griffin of New Jersey. Stepfather to Brian and his wife Silvia Powers of Boston. Loving Grandfather to Jennifer and her husband Blayne Smith, Khaila Donovan, David Donovan, Alyssa Donovan and Aliyah Donovan of Maine, Jayden Griffin and Nicolas Griffin of New Jersey. Great Grandfather to Penny Smith and Baylor Donovan of Maine.

Jimmy was born and raised in South Boston and worked for over 20 years as a cook for the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual help and was an avid catholic becoming a Deacon in 2002. He was a proud Irishman who loved the Holidays with Christmas being his favorite. Whether sending Swiss Colony candies to his children and grandkids, to the perfectly wrapped gifts he had ready for the season, to the funny gag gifts he sent yearly he truly loved the moments where he knew he was providing.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE on Friday, September 22nd. from 6-8PM. Interment at New Calvary Cemetery Monday, September 25th at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited.
