James Connolly, of Dorchester, passed away at home, peacefully, after a long illness, Wednesday September 2, 2026.

He was born on July 18, 1949 to the late Patrick and Elizabeth Connolly. Jimmy was employed by Verizon and retired after over 30 years.

Known as Uncle Jimmy to everyone, he was loving, caring, and a funny person who always took care of people. He was very active in the life of his godson, Michael, as well as the lives of Michael’s children, Zachary and Keira. He never hesitated to drop everything for his family and friends, generously making sure they were taken care of, supported, and loved. He had a way of making everyone laugh and cherished those moments.

He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Cosgrove, and her late husband, Francis, of Dorchester; his late nephew Patrick Rogers; niece, Kelly Alves, and her husband, Charles Carroll, of Dorchester; his great-nephew, Devon Rogers, and his wife, Kimberly, of South Boston; his great-niece, Caitlin Alves, of Dorchester; his godson, Michael Lyons, along with Michael’s children, Zachary and Keira Lyons.
